Hailing from a family of traditional artists & born in a small town of Deoghar, Jharkhand, Shashi was trained in the techniques and skill of sculpting and painting because of the family’s profession in this field. Further, these techniques and skills were refined under the guidance of the ace artists of Shantiniketan, Kolkata.
Strong lines, sharply fluid movements, a feeling of freedom & space is what has been created by the ingeniously balanced figures in joyous dancing compositions and wondering delight is the viewer’s reaction to Shashi’s work. Shashi is comfortable working with diverse mediums as installation, sculptures, murals.
The artist’s works have been displayed in several prominent galleries in India and has participated in various solo and group shows, besides being a part of the India Art Fair from 2016 to 2018. He held a painting workshop at Zugloi Munkacsy Mihaly Art School, Budapest, Hungary in October, 2019. Shashi’s works are in prominent collections in India and abroad.
The artist lives and works in New Delhi.
