Achuthan Kudallur 

Born 1945 in Palghat district, Kerala, Achuthan Kudallur who holds a diploma in Civil Engineering initially a writer has converted his medium of expression from Malayalam writing to abstract painting and carving a niche for himself in the contemporary Indian art scene. Achuthan’s work is known for their mature abstract compositions imbued with unbound energy, capable of tackling one’s mood. His canvases are musical epigrams where accelerating notes are captured and played with accurate precision. An imaginative interplay of linear forms, dots and colours, his prolific work has been represented in several significant public and private collections besides being showcased in over 20 solo and group exhibitions in India and abroad. He is the recipient of the National Award of Lalit Kala Akademi Delhi and the State Lalit Kala Akademi Chennai. Besides being one of the most prominent abstract Indian painters, Kudallur has worked on a huge collection of portraits and illustrations for his own stories, which have been published in prominent fortnightly magazines.


He has held 16 solo exhibitions in Bombay, Madras and Bangalore.
